Today we wanted to change it up and share our own personal photos with you! Like many couples, we let so many years slip by without bothering to document ourselves and our relationship beyond iphone photos. (and let me be honest. my iphone photos look absoutely no better than yours... in fact mine are probably worse...don't ever ask me to take them!) Our wedding photos from seven years ago are amazing and we love them (maybe I'll share them in a future post), but we've grown and changed and matured so much since that they're no longer an accurate representation of who we are now....Read More

Before we tell you our results, here are a few facts from last year's Contest that just might blow your mind....Read More
Seating charts are often the first thing guest see when they arrive at the reception, so why not make them beautiful as well as functional? They set the tone for the look and feel of your reception by either complimenting and enhancing your venue or contrasting it.
In past years its been popular to do chalkboards or mirrors for seating charts, and while those can have their benefits, I want to talk instead about some of my favourite design elements for seating charts.Read More
As I continue down this road in entrepreneurship I have come to notice an incredible tool, one that will bring change and growth to anyone who is wanting to really see explosive results in their life. Ok, I made it sound a lot better than it really is but it is still an essential part of any business. I'm talking about something called taking responsibility for your own personal leadership.
What is personal leadership you may ask? It's what I would describe as making sure you take the time needed to take care of your soul. Who you are on the inside, how you think, what you feed your mind, and who you surround yourself with. Are you receiving healthy input or are your own thoughts and those you let influence you dragging you down?
Building a profitable business is exciting and fun but ...Read More
This is our final piece on purpose and how harnessing it’s power can not only transform your work life but also save you time and cut down on unneeded stress.
Simply put, we live in a world of too much noise and media grabbing for our attention. Everyday someone wants our attention or wants us to do something for them. With all these new challenges, we need to be ever focused on where we are purposely going. Setting ourselves apart and above all the noise is such an important part of any future successful entrepreneur. And we believe that purpose is a great tool to use to keep us on track.Read More
One of the things I love most about working in the Calgary wedding industry is collaboration. I love meeting talented new vendors and working together to make our businesses and the industry itself better. Whether its supporting new events, like The Bash YYC, or attending inspirational workshops, making new connections and learning from others is just plain fun.

One of the most fascinating (and overwhelming) parts of wedding planning is thinking of and visualizing all the tiny parts of your day. Once you've booked the venue, the photographer, and the planner, bought the dress and picked a colour scheme - that's when it hits you. There are so many things to design and put together to make this day turn out beautifully! That's one of the reasons we highly recommend working with an experienced designer. In addition to helping you define the look and style you want for your wedding, they are experts at helping you pull all the details together in a cohesive way that fits your budget.
We're starting with boutonnieres because they are so often overlooked. These tiny little details can be as simple or as unique as you desire. As a photographer I love pulling details together to showcase the story of their day. Being able to photograph well thought out pieces like a custom invitation suite and coordinating boutonnieres can add an extra element of design and beauty to the album spreads.Read More

Final Tips To Prepare for Your Engagement Session
Most people are a little nervous at the thought of being in front of the camera. That’s incredibly normal. We've heard everything from "We're really awkward in front of the camera" to "We're SOOO nervous!" Honestly, everyone feels that way (even if they mask it by being overly confident and outgoing). It's hard to know what to do with your hands and how to relax when a massive lens is pointed at you. (I actually get nervous too… confessions of a photographer ;) But that’s where we come in. As professional photographers, our responsibility is to educate you on what to expect during the session and to help you relax (and a huge part of relaxing is realizing that EVERYONE feels that way at first and your pictures won’t be a disaster because of your sudden awkwardness ;) ...Read More
Last week we talked about the concept of finding your purpose and how it can bring direction and fulfillment to your life. We shared that your purpose is not just something that you do with your hands but that it's much deeper. It's who you are and what you are called to. What you do with your hands is just the tool that you use to help fulfill it. We then encouraged you to spend some time thinking about it and to write some ideas down on paper of what you think your purpose might be.
Today we want to share some easy tools that you can use to help find your purpose...

It's pretty normal these day for people to feel like they are overwhelmed with life and all that it throws at us. Many of us just drift through life without a plan or purpose, and look back years later trying to figure out how we arrived where we are at. Who seriously wants to live like that? This may be fine for some people but not for us. This life is precious! We believe that the most fulling life is a life that is lived out of purpose. A life lived both on purpose (intentional) and accomplishing your purpose (directional). Over the next few weeks we're going to explore why purpose is essential in life, how to identify your purpose, and how to make it part of your life once you've found it.
Living out of purpose looks like a life where you are on top of time and not under it; a life where you are directing the traffic of your own life and not being dragged behind it. We're not perfect at it but we are most definitely working toward it every day. We all go through seasons (and days) of chaos. But it's in this time that we can bring a much needed calm to our life by going back to our purpose and making sure we are still on the right track. We believe that purpose is what brings fulfillment to your life. It's the reason that you are alive, the reason you get out of bed in the morning, and the reason you WANT to live life. Not only does purpose create a direction in your life, it also creates fulfillment in your work and is a great filter that you can use to determine what you say yes and no to...Read More
