We live in an amazing era for weddings.
It’s no longer a one-size fits all kind of thing. We don’t have to book a banquet hall and drape it with tulle until it looks like a snow monster (My Big Fat Greek Wedding anyone????) anymore. We can now create beautiful weddings that reflect our own style and personalities. Weddings are being held in beautiful restaurants filled with delicious food and a cozy atmosphere and weddings are being held on majestic mountain tops. Some couples fill their guest list with extended family and friends to celebrate in one big party and some couples choose to keep it intimate with only the handful of people who’s relationship has impacted their world. What it really comes down to is that we have the choice to forgo details that don’t matter to us so that we can embrace the things that are significant.
We've seen a lot of weddings over the course of our lives and careers. We’ve seen the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly. We’ve seen budget weddings and lavish weddings, large weddings and small weddings. We've seen weddings with cranky brides and weddings with bored guests. We've seen couples who loved every aspect of their wedding day and those that regretted some of their vendor choices (yet another topic for another day).
We’ve seen weddings that were so well-styled that I wanted to photograph everything in sight and we’ve seen weddings that have been so intimate and meaningful that I fight off tears throughout the day. But its the rare wedding that manages to combine the two and be both meaningful and well-styled, well those days are what dreams are made of. They are the sweet spot that we love.
It's the weddings that are both meaningful and well-styled, those days are what dreams are made of. They are the sweet spot that we love.
But how do you know if your wedding is going to be all that? If you're not a wedding professional with a constant immersion in the world of boutique vendors, current styles, and years of understanding the nuances of crafting your dream day, then it can be incredibly overwhelming putting it all together with only google and pinterest for help.
We're not wedding planners, but after years of seeing multiple weddings and couples, we have definitely identified some things that can make a big difference in how your wedding day comes together. While every wedding, like every couple, is different we're going to start sharing our insights on what makes a meaningful and well styled wedding come together.
Stay tuned for that in the weeks to come!
