Beginnings. This whole concept of having a photography business has been the craziest study in tenacity and trust. God definitely had a different plan in mind than I did when we started this thing. For one thing, I had no freakin idea what I was doing! Nada. Nothing. I just jumped in with both feet and started selling my photography prints.
Fast forward 4 years later, and I finally feel like I am starting a real business. Everything before was just school; messy, embarrassing, slightly pathetic at times, school. I remember sitting in Palm Springs (I know, its tough having a Mom with a winter place in fabulous Palm Springs… but hey… embrace the tough stuff!) last January while my husband was renovating her bathroom and trying to take a look at the next year. I knew the financial goals I wanted to achieve and knew enough to break that down into monthly target income. The problem was I had no idea where to go from there. (Literally actually as my husband and I were also contemplating moving away from our hometown on Vancouver Island. More on that later).
One year later, I can look back and see how incredibly far we’ve come in our personal lives and in the business. For one thing, I actually understand the basics of business! I’m sitting down this year to create a business plan and action steps to make it a reality. My husband and I are living in bustling Calgary, Alberta and looking at working together in business for the first time. Its been an amazing journey that’s only just beginning.
