The School Sessions is a fabulous idea. Not because I’m passionate about eduction (as the founder Jamie Delaine and the talented Amy&Jordan Devos are) or because I’m passionate about Haiti in particular. Rather I’m passionate about my industry. I’m passionate about using photography to change society. I’m passionate about using my giftings to make the world a better place.
You can look at all the problems in the world around you and get overwhelmed. It can seem like nothing will truly make a difference. I don’t see it like that. I’m not interested in radically overhauling the world (though I’m open to it!), rather I’m interested in leaving the world that I’m in (the people, places, and opportunities that I come in contact with) a better place.
Whether its helping a woman with low self esteem see herself in a new way. Or being part of a couple’s love story and helping them celebrate and cherish their marriage vows; championing their success and encouraging them every step of the way. Or perhaps its raising the standards of service and quality experience for my clients. Or helping another business owner grow their business and invest in one another’s success. Or maybe its donating time and profit to bring life and opportunity to another generation.
I’m all about identity and discovering who you were made to be and pursuing the passions that God placed in your heart. What could be more worthwhile than using those giftings to help someone else. With the School session, photographers around the world are able to use their business and talents to help the people of Haiti step through the door of education and begin to discover all the potential that’s inside them. That is worth investing in.
